Redang island is almost a Malaysian paradise island, located 45 min by boat from the East side shore in the north of Malaysia.
I visited twice this island, in october 2001 and in August 2004, for 3 or 4days each time. I could observe the evolution of the island with the tourism develpment, and mainly, I discussed a lot, in a good ambiance around cocktails, with the boss of one resort.
To go to Redang, it is relatively simple : go to Kula Terengganu (airport) and take a taxi to Merang, where the jetty of all ferry companies is. There, you can buy a go and return ticket : you will be takendirectly to the resortyou want to.
Warning : resorts are open only from March till end of Octoer, because of the raining season.
